When Toyota MR2 race preparation specialists Rogue Motorsport embarked on a new project to convert a Toyota GT86 into a GT racecar, one of their suppliers recommended they get in touch with Titan to help meet some of the projects challenging targets.
One of these challenges was replacing the original 2 litre engine with a Lexus ISF 5 litre V8. Making this engine fit within the confines of the engine bay meant it required a unique, and extremely flat dry sump system for which Rogue turned to Titan as Matt Wishart, Workshop Manager at Rogue Motorsport explains: “Titan were recommended to us by one of our other suppliers. We went to them with a basic design we had created and explained to them what we were aiming to do. This initial conversation, a look around their facilities and Titan’s impressive track record in the industry told me they were the right people for the job.”
The project quickly became a collaborate effort to create the final design, a process that impressed Matt; “the overall contact and communication with Titan was fantastic. They stayed right on the project, and really looked after it, and that is not something you always see,” Matt continues, “the technological know-how at Titan is very impressive and sets them apart from others. They are not just a machine shop, and the technical expertise on offer is second to none.”
Following the successful design and production of the one-off sump kit, Rogue engaged Titan for a number of related follow-up projects with equal success. Rogue and Titan are currently discussing additional projects to make the GT project car a reality.
“One of the things that I have to say I was impressed with is that although I am sure I am not their biggest client, they treated our one-off project in the same manner they would treat a project for a major manufacturer, and that was really impressive. I have no doubt we’ll be doing more work with Titan in the future.” Matt concludes.
