Throughout the years, Titan has always been about the design and manufacturing of some of the world’s top performance components. This is in no small part due to its constant investment in top-quality machinery.
It is the investment in these machines that allows Titan to make the most complex components flawlessly and quickly. One such machine is Titan’s compact vertical machining centre, which combines a Doosan DNM 500a with a Nikken 5AX-201, providing a unique 5 axis machining capability. This advanced machine features an automatic tool changer, which changes any of its 20 tools in 1.3 seconds, as well as rapid traverse capability, which leads to a significant reduction in machining time, as well as unrivalled accuracy.
Production Engineering Manager Richard Chapman, who joined Titan earlier this year states: “The addition of this machine to Titan’s facility has enabled us to increase capacity, and reduce lead times on many of our longer run-time components. Due to the reduction in machining operations, the machine also provides better accuracy, whilst producing parts quicker. It’s ideal for our time sensitive motorsport customers.”

Richard’s colleague Martin Rushbrook recently spent some time working on one of our longer run-time jobs, and re-engineering it to run on the Doosan. The outcome of his work was a 67 hour saving on machine time, over the whole batch of parts. Whilst this was work carried out on a Titan product, Martin’s time is spent working on similar projects for Titan’s customers, where timing and efficiency are critical.
