Learning Curves at Formula Student

Formula Student, the world’s largest student motorsport event, held its blue-ribbon event earlier this month at Silverstone Circuit, UK. Titan have been supporters of the competition for several years now, supplying as many as 16 teams with parts for this year's event.

Over the course of the weekend finals, student teams enter a self-designed, built and prepared car to compete in four dynamic events including endurance and sprint tests, as well as being judged on elements like design, cost & manufacturing and business presentations.

Overall event honours went to Dutch university TU Delft, who have been regular competitors for a number of years and entered an electric car for the competition.

The annual event saw over 3000 engineering students descend on Silverstone, representing 38 different countries around the world. Titan is delighted to support the competition as Head of Sales & Marketing Zoe Timbrell explains: “Formula Student is a great event to engage and excite students for a career in engineering and so we feel it is important to be involved.”

“It is great to see what some of the students can come up with, and quite often there are a lot of new and innovative engineering ideas on show, and we enjoy engaging with them“ she continues. “After all, they are the future of our industry.”

Titan support for the teams includes free design of a bespoke steering rack from our fixed centre or eccentric steering rack range, and a large discount on the final price, in addition to a 20% discount on all catalogue parts purchased by the team.
